The tournament is for ages 12-18 only. Participants must be at least 12 to play at the time the tournament starts (June 15) and not over 18 for the duration of the tournament (through August 7).
Participants must register to participate in a qualifying round of the tournament in order to be guaranteed a space. Drop in can be accommodated only if there is space to do so.
A band consists of two-four people. If participants register for themselves only, then other people will be assigned to them in order to form a band. If participants register for two or more people (up to four) the band is complete.
Each person may only be in one band at that particular qualifying event.
All band members must be present and at the qualifying round no later than 15 minutes after the scheduled event time to be able to participate at that branch.
If it’s a band’s turn to play and they are out of the room when called, they may forfeit their chance to participate at this branch’s qualifying round.
Difficulty level can be chosen by the band members.
If the band fails out, they may retry the same song one more time.
Only songs from a selected list can be played
Participants need to use the instruments supplied for them by the library.
The two bands with the top highest scores for the qualifying rounds at each branch will advance to the championship at ImaginOn (August 7, 2-4pm).
If a band is advancing to the championship they may not continue to compete in the qualifying rounds at other branches.
Band scores will be averaged (score divided by the number of people in the band and the highest combined score from a single song will be counted).
The highest score is based on the total points averaged by the number of participants in the band.
In the event of a tie, the tied bands will participate in a tie breaker round. During this round, each band will play one song of the band’s choice.
Disqualification from the tournament can result if participants are not following PLCMC’s rules and regulations for conduct: (www.plcmc.org/About_Us/policiesConduct.asp)
